The guest of honor will be an important visiting dignitary, Dr. Eugene Megyesy, who is a Senior Cabinet adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Mass will be at 10 am in English with a touch of Hungarian, followed by a reception with refreshments in Mindszenty Hall.
Dr. Megyesy is a 'survivor' of the '56 Hungarian uprising against Communism who came at that time to the US and practiced law in Denver for many years before returning to Hungary to take up his present position. He will be visiting St. Louis as a guest of Mr. Ed Martin, President of the Eagle Forum. Dr. Megyesy is a practicing Catholic who wants to see our church and Hungarian cultural center.
This event commemorates the 60th anniversary of the day Cardinal Mindszenty took refuge in the US Embassy (November 4, 1956). After Mass, he will say a few words about this historic anniversary during the reception in our Mindszenty Hall.

Good Friday, April 14. At 12 noon in the church we will begin our traditional Way of the Cross, organized by the Communion & Liberation group. This begins with the recitation of the Midday Hour (Sext) of the Divine Office, with a brief mediation, followed by the Via Crucis through the nearby streets up to the entrance of the Gateway Arch grounds near the Old Cathedral. This is the only public Way of the Cross through the streets of the city of St. Louis.
Then at 3:00 p.m. in the church we will carry out the solemn liturgy for the Commemoration of the Lord's Passion and Death. In this Novus Ordo celebration, some chants and prayers, and the Communion liturgy, will be in Latin, while the first and second Scripture readings, Responsorial Psalm, the chanting of St. John's Passion narrative, and the solemn Good Friday intercessions will be in English.
